When it comes to productivity, everyone’s peak hours can vary based on their individual personality and habits. For instance, if you’re more of a night owl, it wouldn’t be the best idea to wake up at 4 am just because your favorite celebrity swears by it. All the same, according to some facts, there are certain time-frames that are better than others for everyday activities. So, if you want to have a day every now and again that you want to be as productive as possible, we’ve gathered some things to do and when it’s best to do them.
Wake Up At 6:30 am
While some people claim that in order to be productive, you have to wake up crazy early, the best time to wake up depends on when you went to bed in the first place. Instead of sleeping a certain number of hours, set a goal to complete four or five 90-REM cycles each night. So, if you need to wake up at 6:30 am, it’s best to go to sleep at either 9 or 11 pm.
7:00 am – Exercise
You’ve probably heard how morning workouts are better than evening ones, but now there’s actual science to back it up. Due to the way that hormones fluctuate throughout the day, you might get the most of a morning workout.
8:00 am – Shower
In terms of the best time to shower, opinions vary. However, showering after breaking a sweat is essential. Not washing it off can be harmful to the skin in the long run. Also, a cool shower is a great wake to wake up.
8:30 am – Breakfast
Dietitians recommend eating breakfast within two hours of waking up. If you aren’t planning on exercising, you can eat sooner, but no matter what, don’t skip breakfast. It will make you less focused and alert later on in the day.
9:30 am – To-Do List
Once you’ve exercised, showered, and had breakfast, you’re free to do all those things you’ve been meaning to get to. Whether it’s work-related or chores, try fitting all your most important work between 8 am and 2 pm. This is because cognitive performance declines quickly after these hours.
12 pm – Lunch
If you had a decent breakfast – and don’t have any health issues – you can usually wait 4-5 hours before eating another meal. However, it’s important to listen to your body.
1 pm – Screen Time
It’s no secret that blue light from a screen can negatively impact sleep, so set a designated time to check social media, catch up on news, or respond to emails.
6 pm – Dinner
It’s always best to eat dinner about 2 or 3 hours before bed. This way, you’ll be fully digested and be able to sleep properly.
7:30 pm – Do Something Creative
This might seem counter-intuitive, but we’re the most creative when we’re a little tired. The best time to solve a problem or brainstorm is after dinner. Feel free to multitask – it turns out that distractions can help you think in out-of-the-box ways!
